Work and play

I can't believe a whole month has gone by since my last post. Typically the project from my last post was complicated by some urgent new Ella & Olivia books needed before Christmas, so I have felt somewhat overloaded with work lately.
It's all exciting stuff, but I just can't shake the guilt that to get these projects done, my little one misses out somewhere along the line... (ie stuck in front of a DVD for a few hours.) Anyway, it has not been all work and no play either. Amidst everthing there has been weekends away, playgroups, BBQ's, swimming, Christmas parties.... This weekend we finally made some time for some fun at home.
I picked up these cookie cutters from Kikki.K recently and we certainly made the most of them...
...Cookies - OF COURSE....
Christmas tree decorations, using this recipe from Pinterest.
...and since the paints were out we finally got around to painting these lanterns! FUN!

New Project

I am having a break from Ella & Olivia to complete a new batch of readers (for kids learning to read.) It's an extension on a previous series I worked on a few years ago now, called Little Learners ! Check them out here!

More news...

I have hinted a few times that we have LOTS of great things going on at the moment, but I have been saving the best news until now. I AM PREGNANT with baby number two. We are so excited. We are around 15 weeks now and the constant nausea seems to have finally faded as we move into the second trimester. It's wonderful timing as we settle into our new home and look forward to fun times ahead...

Our new farm!

Introducing our own little piece of heaven. This is where we moved to. It's a lovely 230 acre patch that is ours, all ours. Like so many people we know, we have spent the last few years dreaming of a more self sufficient life on the land - where we can grow our own food, and live a healthier lifestyle. It might be a little run down in and in need a little LOT of love and care, but it's ours! Here's a bit of a snap shot of the property....and YES we FINALLY have some chickens!!! Yay!

On my desk

I am still keeping busy with the Ella & Olivia series at the moment, and we have just moved house (more on that to come) so we have not sorted out our home internet yet. (I miss Pinterest!)...hopefully I will be back soon.

My life at 41

Today is my birthday. I am not shy about letting you know my age for a number of reasons. One being that I still feel like the same person I was at 21 (although I like to think I am a little wiser with my years), but also because I can honestly say that I am 100% totally happy with my life right now and where we are at. I think that's part of the problem with birthdays. They naturally make us relfect on our lives and where we thought we'd be and what we would be doing by that stage of our lives. Well, I think if you had told that 21 year old me all of the things I will have seen and done by the time I reached 41 I would scarcely have believed half of it. Yet there are so many more wonderful things happening right now and I hope to share some of them with you over the coming weeks. Thank you to my gorgeous husband and beautiful daughter (who also had a birthday this week - she's a big 2 year old now!) for making every day so special. I love you both. x Happy Days.

Weekend finds

I have been meaning to tell you about our wonderful weekend all week. We have recently discovered the Southern Highlands and on Saturday we decided to go and check out Bowral. We never quite made it, as we were distracted along the way... First stop was the GOULBURN markets:
I picked up that lovely pair of boxes in the background there for next to nothing. (Prices were outrageously cheap!)I will use them for shelving in Jades room eventually.
Then we planned to go to Bowral via Berrima, but who could pass up the chance to explore such a gorgeous little town?! So we had lunch in Berrima and then explored. Bowral will have to wait for another day!
I also bought that coat rack with the yellow hooks that you can see sticking out of the basket in this pic. Then on Sunday I hunted out these fabulous drawers I have been admiring on Pinterest and (thanks to a bit of a tip off) I managed to get them on sale. I think you can also say that I am now SLOWLY coming around to YELLOW.....bit by bit.

What to bake?

We are having some visitors over tomorrow for our first 'play date' since moving to the area and I although I am NOT reknowned for my baking skills I am trying to decide what to bake for my guests. These are some ideas I have pinned to my "Food and Recipe Ideas' board in pinterest (am so addicted to Pinterest!) Hhhhmmm...what to choose?...or is it a case of who and I kidding?!!

Icing Fun!

I have finally bought myself a new DSLR camera and can't believe the quality after relying on my smart phone for so long. I am still using AUTO everything until I brush up on my photography skills, but I am really excited with the results. My cousin put me onto this activity and Jade loved it. It's just coloured icing on some plain biscuits but she loved it and I didn't have to worry about her eating it while she played! I just need to get some sprinkles now and we'll be doing this one again for sure.

Benedict House

One of the best things about moving to a new area is exploring the local surrounds. Today we ventured to Queanbeyan to check out Benedict House. It's a former girls boarding school and convent that has transformed into a gorgeous cafe with little rooms full of great gift and handmade items. Not only do they host events and classes there, but it's also famous for it's high tea sessions, (which unfortunately were booked out for us today) - we'll know to book next time!
